Weekly Jungle Unleashed: Sound as a Creative Tool

  • Bankastudios (Big Room) Bankastraat 3, Maastricht 6214 XN Netherlands (map)

L’Okapi × Lumière Jazz Nights

Facilitated by Louise van den Heuvel

3rd of March in the big room of the Bankastudios | 16:45-18:30

This workshop approaches composition through sound itself as a starting point. Rather than treating sound shaping as something added at the end, Louise van den Heuvel explores how timbre, tools, and ways of listening can inform musical ideas from the very beginning.

Effect pedals serve as an important reference, but they are not a requirement. The focus lies on how signal chains, sound choices, and listening strategies influence form, direction, and decision-making within the writing process. How can a sound suggest structure? How can technology open up new compositional pathways?

The workshop is open to musicians, composers, and creators from all genres who are interested in deepening or rethinking their creative process. Through experimentation and reflection, participants are invited to discover new approaches to developing their own material. Louise will also play with her band on the Lumière Jazz Nights on the 2nd of March 2026 : Ticket link

Sound as a Creative Tool resonates strongly with L’Okapi’s vision of music as a space for exploration, research, and personal growth.

Bringing your instrument is encouraged :-)

All are welcome, as you are.
